Camiguin
A small volcanic island off Northern Mindanao, known for hot and cold springs, waterfalls, and an offshore sandbar.

Overview
Camiguin is a small island just off the coast of Northern Mindanao, formed by a cluster of volcanoes and often described as the island of born volcanoes. A ring road ties together hot and cold springs, waterfalls, and old church ruins, and the whole loop can be covered in an easy day of riding. Offshore, the White Island sandbar appears at low tide with a view back to the island's mountains, and the pace stays relaxed and uncommercial.
Standout experiences
White Island sandbar
A bare white sandbar offshore, reached by boat, with the island's volcanic peaks behind it.
Hot and cold springs
Natural springs around the island, from warm pools to cold spring resorts.
Island waterfalls
Forest cascades such as Katibawasan and Tuasan, with pools for a swim.
Sunken Cemetery and church ruins
The cross marking a submerged cemetery and the remains of an old church, reminders of the island's volcanic past.
Ring-road loop
The island circuit by scooter or hired vehicle, the simplest way to see the springs, falls, and views.
Getting there
Camiguin Airport (CGM) near Mambajao has Cebgo flights from Cebu. Most travelers fly to Laguindingan Airport (CGY) in Cagayan de Oro, take a bus or van about two hours to Balingoan port, then a ferry just over an hour to Benoni port near Mambajao. Ferries run from about 4:00 am to 5:00 pm.
When to go
Camiguin's Lanzones Festival fills Mambajao in the third week of October (October 20 to 27), with street dancing, pageants, and a trade fair. The drier months from February to May suit island hopping, waterfalls, and the White Island sandbar. In the wet season the Balingoan ferry crossing can turn rough, since sailings depend on weather conditions.
