Cagayan de Oro
A river city in Northern Mindanao known for whitewater rafting, a warm food scene, and highland escapes into Bukidnon.

Overview
Cagayan de Oro sits on the Cagayan de Oro River in Northern Mindanao and has built its reputation around whitewater rafting, with guided runs that thread rapids through a forested gorge. The city itself is a busy provincial capital and university town, with markets, museums, and a night food scene along Divisoria. It also works as a practical base for the cooler highlands of Bukidnon and for onward trips to Camiguin and Iligan.

Buses from the Agora and Bulua terminals connect to Bukidnon, Iligan, Davao, and Butuan. The Port of Cagayan de Oro at Macabalan handles the city's inter-island shipping.
When to go
Cagayan de Oro has a tropical monsoon climate. March and April are the driest months; the wet season runs from June to November, with August and September the wettest.
