El Nido
Bacuit Bay lagoons, karst islets, and long beaches on Palawan's most photographed coastline.

Overview
El Nido anchors the northern tip of mainland Palawan, facing the sheltered water of Bacuit Bay. Its signature is a scatter of limestone islets and hidden lagoons that you explore by outrigger boat, with snorkelling stops over shallow coral between them. Inland, the town keeps a walkable, laid-back feel, while longer rides reach surf-and-sand stretches such as Nacpan. It is a place for slow days on the water rather than a packed checklist of sights.
Standout experiences
Big Lagoon and Small Lagoon
Two enclosed lagoons on Miniloc Island, best seen early by kayak before the day's boats arrive.
Bacuit Bay island-hopping
Classic boat routes linking beaches, snorkelling spots, and quiet coves around the bay.
Nacpan Beach
A long curve of sand north of town, usually paired with the smaller Calitang beach next door.
Snorkelling and diving
Shallow reefs and drop-offs around the islets, with dive sites for all experience levels.
El Nido viewpoints
Short, steep trails above town and the bay that open onto panoramic views of the karst islands.
Getting there
El Nido Airport (ENI) handles small aircraft from Manila and Cebu. The usual route is through Puerto Princesa International Airport (PPS), then a van or air-conditioned bus to El Nido in four to six hours. By sea, a Montenegro fast ferry and large outrigger boats cross from Coron. Miniloc and other islands sit within Bacuit Bay.
When to go
The dry season from December to May brings calm seas and near-daily island-hopping departures, while the habagat from June to October pushes wind and swell onto Bacuit Bay and the coast guard can suspend boats at short notice. March, April, and May are the driest and hottest months, and diving visibility is best from March to May.
