Batangas
The closest beach and dive province to Manila, from Anilao reefs to Laiya sands and Taal heritage.

Overview
Batangas covers a long stretch of coast and countryside just south of Metro Manila, which is why it works for both a quick beach weekend and a serious diving trip. Anilao and Mabini are known for coral-rich reefs and muck diving, while Laiya and Nasugbu draw families to resort beaches. Inland, the province wraps around Taal Lake, where the heritage town of Taal and its hilltop basilica look out across the water toward the volcano island.
Standout experiences
Anilao and Mabini diving

Laiya and Nasugbu beaches
Resort-lined stretches of sand for swimming, short boat trips, and relaxed weekends.

Getting there
The nearest airport is Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) in Metro Manila. Most travelers reach Batangas City by provincial bus from PITX, Buendia, or Alabang; ALPS, Ceres, DLTB, and JAM Liner run the route in two to three hours. Batangas Port, at Barangay Santa Clara, handles ferries and roll-on/roll-off ships to Mindoro and other islands.
When to go
Batangas City has a short dry season, roughly January to April, with rain that can begin as early as May or as late as June. Typhoons pass through most often from June to September. The port grows congested during Holy Week, All Saints' Day, and the Christmas holidays, and the founding day and Sublian Festival fall in July.
